As we enter a new phase of growth, we are looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with a focus driving innovation, from new product development to industrialization.

Your role

As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the product development process by leading the design and development of (new) Skytree products. Leveraging your extensive experience and technical expertise, you will contribute to the innovation and optimization of mechanical designs, ensuring they meet the highest standards of functionality, reliability, and manufacturability.

You’ll make an impact by

  • Driving conceptualization and innovation involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and contribute innovative ideas for enhancing product performance and functionality

  • Leveraging your deep understanding of mechanical engineering principles to develop new concepts and solutions

  • Utilizing advanced 3D modeling tools to create detailed mechanical designs and conducting simulations and analyses to validate designs for performance, safety, and regulatory compliance.

  • Overseeing prototyping, rigorous testing, and collaboration with testing and quality assurance teams to validate design concepts and ensure compliance with specified requirements and standards.

  • Collaborating and communicating design concepts across teams and stakeholders while integrating mechanical components seamlessly into the overall product architecture with electrical, software, and industrial designers.

  • Optimizing design for cost-effective production by collaborating closely with manufacturing teams and providing support throughout the manufacturing process to address any design-related issues.

  • Creating detailed design documentation, including drawings and specifications, while ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulations, and safety requirements.

  • Continuously learning about the latest advancements in mechanical engineering and design technologies, while implementing best practices and new techniques to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the design process.

What we’re looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field; advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) is an advantage.

  • Proven experience (typically 6+ years) in mechanical design engineering in a fast-paced environment.

  • You are used to having product / module level design responsibilities, and taking ownership.

  • Full product development cycle experience, including designing new and complex solutions “from scratch”.

  • Expertise in designing complex, industrial equipment (low volume / high complexity).

  • Experience with some of the following:

    • Start/scale-up environments.

    • Sheet metal.

    • CFD simulations for gas flows and heat transfer.

    • Heat exchangers and heat pumps.

    • DFMA / Design for X.

    • FEM/FEA.

    • Industrial vacuum systems and challenges associated with the design of vacuum-based machinery.

    • GD&T.

    • PFD and P&ID’s.

  • Proficiency in 3D modeling software, such as Inventor, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar tools.

  • Proficiency with one or more other relevant tools such as Ansys (Fluent / Mechanical), PDM/PLM, Python, Matlab etc.

Note: we can offer work permit / visa sponsorship for exceptional candidates. We, however, currently do not offer a relocation package / remuneration in case you would need to move to The Netherlands for this position. Thanks for your understanding.
