To this end we are now expanding our engineering team to offer a role for a Senior Material Scientist / R&D Engineer. Together with the Head of Research and Development and the Senior Product Engineer you will work on the following strategic work streams:

The Role

  • Lead the execution of the material technology development activities
  • Serve as the main point of contact with collaboration partners (universities, research institutes, business partners)
  • Develop key insights into material performance and provide recommendations for optimization of material processing, packaging, and technology implementation
  • Support the development of reactor predictive models
  • Design experimental procedures, conduct testing, and perform data analysis
  • Develop internal procedures and recommendations for standardisation of material performance testing and Quality Control measures
  • Write documentation, status reports, and operating procedures
  • Perform regular literature surveys to monitor recent developments
  • Support the surrounding Skytree team


Your profile and experience

  • You are a reliable self-starter who can work independently, while managing priorities across multiple, parallel projects
  • You enjoy hands-on work, setting up tests and running experiments
  • You have an open-mind and enjoy working as part of a diverse, multi-cultural team
  • You are a good communicator and can write clear, concise technical reports

  • MSc or PhD degree in a related field such as Chemistry, Chemical engineering, Material science
  • 3-5 years work experience
  • Knowledge and experience in characterising a wide range of materials (polymers, porous materials, etc.)
  • Experience in developing and carrying out testing procedures, including Design of Experiments (DoE) Methodology
  • Experience in data analysis (R, Python, Matlab, Mathematica etc.)
  • Experience with sensors and measurement uncertainty (bonus)
  • Experience in numerical simulations (bonus)
  • Fluent in English, both verbally and in written form
