THE ROLE
As a Mechanical Prototype Designer, you will be integral to the product development process, leading the design and development of Skytree prototypes. Utilizing your extensive experience and technical expertise, you will drive innovation and enhance our core technology, ensuring it meets the highest standards of functionality, reliability, and energy efficiency.
YOU’LL MAKE AN IMPACT BY
Driving conceptualization and innovation entails collaborating with cross-functional teams to grasp project requirements and contribute creative ideas aimed at enhancing product performance and functionality. This process involves leveraging a deep understanding of mechanical engineering principles to develop new concepts and solutions.
Utilizing advanced 3D modeling tools to create intricate mechanical designs and performing simulations and analyses to validate these designs for performance, safety, and regulatory
Overseeing the prototyping process and conducting rigorous testing while collaborating with testing and quality assurance teams to validate design concepts and ensure compliance with specified requirements and standards.
Collaborating and communicating design concepts with teams and stakeholders while seamlessly integrating mechanical components into the overall product architecture alongside electrical, software, and industrial designers.
Optimizing designs for cost-effective production by working closely with manufacturing teams and providing support throughout the manufacturing process to resolve any design-related issues.
Creating comprehensive design documentation, including drawings and specifications, while ensuring adherence to industry standards, regulations, and safety requirements.
Continuously staying updated on the latest advancements in mechanical engineering and design technologies, while implementing best practices and new techniques to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the design process.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field; an advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) is a plus.
Proven leadership experience (typically 3+ years) in mechanical design, focusing on complex systems and components.
Demonstrated ability to design machines, with experience in rapid prototyping tools such as 3D printing and simulations.
Proficiency in 3D modeling software, including Inventor, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar tools.
Experienced in Design for Prototyping, Manufacturing, and Assembly cycles.
Nice-to-have: Experience with airflow systems and fluid dynamics.
Nice-to-have: Experience with heating systems, heat exchangers, and heat pumps.
Nice-to-have: Experience with industrial vacuum systems and familiarity with the challenges and considerations related to vacuum-based machinery design.
Strong preference for locally available candidates with up-to-date knowledge of the local/EU manufacturing market.
