We are Skytree

Skytree enables a transition to a world with cleaner Air for everyone. We do this by developing and deploying smart technology that captures atmospheric carbon dioxide, enabling its use or storage to combat climate change and aid society and businesses around the world.

Born out of the European Space Agency (ESA), we are a global team of highly talented scientists, engineers and business professionals, supported by an experienced management team. Our working culture is based on a dynamic and smart approach to business with an open and understanding attitude to others and a desire to expand the boundaries of what is possible.

As we’re delivering our very first Commercial Skytree Stratus System (more info can be found
here), we are looking for an Interim Site & Execution Manager to temporarily help us out.

Your role

We’re about to commission the first-of-its-kind Direct Air Capture plant. But in order to energise the actual plant eventually, everything needs to come together first. On the one hand all the modules that are being delivered gradually (produced by a variety of suppliers). More specifically, in early August the hall will be built, while in early September the first module will arrive, which will be assembled by using a 130-ton crane and a 25.5-ton hoisting system which will go through the roof (literally!). While this happens, five to six contractors work on and around the site.

All of this takes place in a context where the design is still moving in places and we haven’t standardized our way of working yet. And that’s where you come in as our Site & Execution Manager, acting as the single point of contact making sure that we smoothly execute from day-to-day. This is not a planner or project management role. Nor is it a desk role. This is a role where you’ll be physically on-site to get it done together with the team. It is important to mention that you will represent Skytree towards the contractors.

You’ll make an impact by

  • Owning the daily coordination on site, while acting as the single point of contact for all contractors working on or around the site at the same time.

  • Being the single point of contact towards contractors, while being Skytree’s representative.

  • Manage the sequence of execution, craneage, deliveries, laydown and site logistics.

  • Making sure we work safely: permits to work, toolboxes, incident follow-ups.

  • V&G Coordination for the execution phase (statutory role under the Arbobesluit) and the V&G plan

  • Overseeing site quality and completing evidence for acceptance.

  • Handing the site over to commissioning, module by module.

  • Having the mandate to put work on hold whenever the team is not in compliance with the given safety standards.

What we’re looking for

  • A strong track record in hard industrial or process plant execution (e.g. mechanical erection, piping, E&I). Building construction alone is not enough.

  • Demonstrated experience as a V&G Coordinator in the stage of execution (in correspondence with Arbobesluit chapter 2).

  • Experience in designing and keeping track of a V&G-plan as well as the RI&E which comes with that. You’ve done this in the context of a construction project.

  • Someone who assesses safety plans, and uses the mandate to put work on hold whenever a contractor is not in compliance with these plans.

  • Capabilities to coordinate heavy lifting (e.g. lifting plans, ground pressure, crane coordination).

  • Ability to speak Dutch fluently as most of the contractors on and around the site are Dutch. Able to communicate in English too in the interfaces with the Skytree organisation.

  • Nice to have:

    • Commissioning exposure: you know what a plant needs before it can be energised.

    • Subcontract administration: you understand the variations, site constructions and back charges.

  • Available as per September with the expectation that the assignment will continue in 2027.
