This is a hybrid role that will be based out of our office in downtown Toronto. This role will involve business travel primarily within North- America but also occasionally in Europe. THE ROLE

As Field Services Technician- NA, you will be tasked with ensuring Skytree’s products (Direct Air Capture Machines) are supported and maintained effectively and efficiently on a national and international scale through our Uptime Assurance SLA’s and a network of internal technicians and external services support companies.

This is an exciting and challenging role where you will be based in Toronto and will be responsible for providing technical support, maintenance, and troubleshooting services on-site, directly at the location of our equipment in Canada and in the US as well as providing support and guidance to customer technical teams.

Customer satisfaction and delight will be at the forefront of everything you do as well as maintaining high excellence standards. Overall, you will be responsible for executing maintenance, repairs and support activities to achieve uptime assurance to our customers. This role sits within the Field Operations team and will report into the Field Services Manager- EU.

YOU’LL MAKE AN IMPACT BY

  • Conducting routine inspections, cleaning, and maintenance on DAC machines to ensure optimal performance and longevity. This includes checking for leaks, corrosion, wear and tear, cleaning and maintaining filters, fans, and other components, and replacing worn or damaged parts as necessary.

  • Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues that may arise in DAC machines. This involves using diagnostic tools and equipment to identify the root cause of problems, repairing or replacing faulty components, troubleshooting and resolving control system malfunctions, and identifying and addressing recurring issues.

  • Traveling to customer sites to perform maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting activities on DAC machines. This includes coordinating with customers to schedule service appointments, working efficiently and effectively to complete service tasks in a timely manner.

  • Providing technical assistance and support to customers over the phone and in person. This involves responding promptly to customer inquiries, resolving issues in a professional and timely manner, and assisting customers with operating and maintaining DAC machines.

  • Maintaining detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and troubleshooting efforts. This includes completing service reports, ensuring accurate and up-to-date documentation of machine history and maintenance records.

  • Conducting testing of new units and equipment, identifying issues that may arise, and collaborating with engineers and manufacturing teams in our facilities when required.

  • Adhering to all safety protocols and regulations, including OSHA standards and company safety policies. Using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when working on or around DAC machines.

  • Ensuring compliance with Skytree QHSE standards through regular audit of technical staff and service partners.

  • Reporting safety related issues which occur and ensure the team takes corrective action to prevent recurrence.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Technical diploma or equivalent experience in the relevant field (e.g., mechanical, electrical).

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in field service or a related field.

  • Certification in relevant technical areas (e.g., HVAC, refrigeration) is a plus.

  • Strong mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic troubleshooting skills.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and problem-solving

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Willingness to travel to various locations including stayover

  • Unyielding commitment to excellence, delivering the best possible outcomes for customers

  • Great organizational skills, flexibility managing multiple priorities, working to change deadlines and attention to details.

  • Familiarity with data analysis and optimization tools is beneficial.

  • Strong communication skills in English.

  • A valid driving license (CAN).

Given the regional coverage requirements, this position requires frequent travel within Canada and other countries in North America. It's important to note that our global headquarters offices are located in Amsterdam, and there's an expectation for periodic in-person presence in the Amsterdam office as necessary for meetings, training sessions, or collaborative endeavors.
